 About the Network

Albury Wodonga Disability Sector Network is an active network of organisations, services and individuals working together to strengthen ties and provide greater service to our community in the disability sector.

The Network was established at the time of the biggest reform in history of disability services, with the introduction of the NDIS. The aim of the Network is to support and resource people working in the disability sector, from front line staff to senior management and people in planning and development positions working in Albury Wodonga and surrounding region.People with disability and their families are welcome to attend and participate in the Network.

We are looking for people to join the steering committee to plan the direction of the Network. If you would like to have input in planning the agenda and developing the Terms of Reference

Our Vision:    Developing the best service system for people with disabilities in Albury Wodonga and District

Notes from meeting

Strategic plan and Working groups

The strategic plan which was discussed at previous meetings was adopted. There was a call for people to join Working groups that will work towards meeting some of the strategies identified. The more network members who join working groups will result in strategies being achieved. It is also hoped that activities undertaken by the working groups will meet objectives of individual organisations.

The working groups are:

  • NDIS readiness
  • Advocacy, Engagement and Education (this group will organise events like Social Inclusion Day and International Day for People with Disability)
  • Service Delivery.

If you wish to participate in one or more of the working groups please email Martin Butcher

Social Inclusion Day

The Network agreed to support the Social Inclusion Day planned for October. It is hoped that the event, which will be centred around QEII square will be inclusive; showcasing whole of community, ranging from sporting, health & allied sectors, community clubs and groups, to businesses, education and employment sectors across both NGO’s and government. Attached is information about Social Inclusion Day. If you have any suggestions please contact Tracy Hetherton or phone 6055 5924.

Social Inclusion Day

Tuesday 8 March 2016

At the last meeting we talked about developing a directory of disability services. It was decided that the Albury Wodonga Community Guide is a good resource provided it is up to date. We encourage YOU to take 5 minutes to click in the link http://www.awcommunityguide.com.au/ look up your organisation and check the information is up to date. You can request changes to the page by clicking the link on the right hand side of the page.

DAIS has a NDIS page on its website to provide information to people with disability and their families with information relevant to them  and to this area. We need help to keep it up to date. Have a look at the web page  www.dais.org.au/ndis.  If you come across information  or local events that we can add please email it to me and I will see if it is appropriate to add.

At this meeting we will disuse the Strategic Plan then break into working groups to start to develop the teams of reference for the working groups.
